One Million Immigrants in 3 Years: Canada’s Incredible Population Projections

This month, Minister for Immigration, Ahmed Hussen, announced the government’s projections for immigration figures over the next three years. In accordance with the Liberal party’s pro-immigration stance, the projections estimate that there will be an increase of roughly one million newcomers by 2020, with just over 300,000 coming to Canada each year. But what are the reasons for this increase? Why does Canada need to continue growing its immigrant population? And what does the country stand to gain from these figures? Let’s take a look.
