ALAOMA OPARA

Principal Lawyer

Alaoma Opara is the  owner and principal lawyer of Aviou Law Firm. Alaoma is a double masters holder graduating with both a Master of Laws degree specialising in alternative dispute resolution, international commercial arbitration and corporate law and a Master of Arts degree in Christian Theology from Kingston University and the University of London – Heythrop College respectively.  Alaoma obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from London Metropolitan University.

Prior to being called to the Ontario bar in 2016, Alaoma worked in private practice for one of Toronto’s most respected and reputable law firms working daily on challenging and diverse cases. She received her legal training with an international Chambers handling primarily complex business, civil and criminal law matters.

Alaoma has extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of Immigration and Estate law and as senior counsel of Aviou Law Firm she is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario and an active member of several professional organisations namely the Christian Legal Fellowship, Lawyers' Christian Fellowship (UK), the Women’s Law Association of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association – Ontario Chapter.

ALEXANDER HEALY

Articling Student

Alex Healy is currently completing his experiential training with Aviou as part of the Law Society of Ontario’s lawyer licensing process. Alex holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, obtained following his completion of a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University. His previous work experience involved developing legislation in the Senate of Canada regarding various topics for multiple Senators.

 

Alex provides a unique perspective on many issues having spent extensive time in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Québec, and having lived in both the UK and Canada. Alex’s interests include constitutional law, business law, family law, and real estate law; and his experience with a diverse array of topics helps to complement the services offered here at Aviou Law.
